The idea behind credit repair is to have the negative items deleted by using different techniques. Some of the common negatives on credit reports include late payments, charge-offs, bankruptcies and collection accounts.
Once you find out which ones you might have on your report, the next step is to begin the process of working to have them deleted. It is also important to note that some credit reports contain errors, which could also be affecting your credit score negatively.
One solution to most of these problems would include disputing the negative items with the credit bureaus directly. When credit bureaus receive a dispute in writing from you, they have a specific amount of time to respond to your dispute or the account has to be deleted from your report according to the law.
Within that time frame they need to contact the original creditor to verify the account, in many cases they are not able to get the proper verification of the account which also leads to a deletion from your credit report.
